Formulation
Salicylic Acid at 2% is the primary keratolytic. As a beta-hydroxy acid, it is uniquely suited to blemish work because its lipid solubility allows it to penetrate the sebum-filled environment of a blocked pore : something that AHAs and most other actives cannot achieve. It loosens the keratinous plug, promotes desquamation within the follicle, and exerts mild antibacterial activity in situ.
Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil at 3%, organically sourced, contributes antimicrobial activity against the bacterial species most commonly associated with inflammatory acne lesions. Its calming properties address the redness and localised swelling that accompanies surface blemishes. Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, also organically sourced, forms the aqueous base and provides immediate soothing activity; it is a recognised skin-calming agent that reduces the irritation potential of the acid active.
Kaolin supports the formulation's texture and provides mild clarifying activity at the site. Argan Kernel Oil, organically sourced, replaces some of the lipid that Salicylic Acid will inevitably remove during its work, preventing the drying that poorly designed spot treatments typically cause. Blueberry, Gooseberry, and Rose Myrtle Fruit Extracts (Gooseberry and Blueberry organically sourced) deliver antioxidant activity and help support the surrounding skin during treatment. Charcoal Powder contributes additional surface-absorbing capacity at the spot.
