What SPF level should I use daily?
SPF 30 provides 97% protection from UVB when applied correctly. SPF 50 provides 98%. The difference is small, but SPF 50 provides a margin for under-application, which most people do. A higher SPF is the practical choice for daily use because it compensates for the amount most people actually apply.
Does SPF go on before or after moisturiser?
After moisturiser, as the final skincare step before any colour. SPF is a surface film that needs unobstructed contact with the skin to perform. Applying it over a rich cream is fine. Applying other products on top of SPF before it has fully set can reduce the coverage.
Do I need to reapply SPF during the day?
Yes, every two hours in direct sun. In an office environment without direct sun exposure, a morning application with broad-spectrum SPF 50 provides reasonable protection across a working day. If you are outside for extended periods, reapplication is important.
Is mineral or chemical SPF better?
Both are effective when properly formulated. Mineral SPF, using zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, is better suited to reactive and sensitive skin and provides immediate protection on application. Chemical SPF absorbs UV more elegantly for lighter textures and better cosmetic finish. OVESSI offers both to suit different preferences.
