Why this exists
Earthy, grounding home scents have a distinct role in a room: they slow the pace rather than lifting it. The Pause is built around that quality of silence found in old growth woodland, where damp, layered quiet feels almost tactile. Its patchouli and moss accord is designed to bring that same stillness indoors, with floral and woody notes that keep the composition clear and legible rather than heavy. Set the candle safely
Place on a stable, heat-resistant surface well away from draughts, textiles, children, animals, and anything combustible.

Trim the cotton wick to 5 mm before each use.

On the first lighting, allow the melt pool to reach the vessel edge to help prevent tunnelling and support even scent distribution.

Formulation
The base is natural soy wax : plant-derived, cleaner-burning than paraffin, and lower-melting, which means the fragrance compounds are volatilised gently and progressively across the burn rather than in a single intense early burst. The unbleached cotton wick is selected for the 100 ml vessel to produce a full-width melt pool without accelerating combustion.
The fragrance compound is anchored by Pogostemon Cablin Oil (patchouli), one of the most studied and structurally complex botanical fragrance materials in perfumery. Its primary aromatic constituents : Patchoulol, Bulnesene, and here declared as Beta-Caryophyllene, a sesquiterpene with a spicy-woody-green character : give the accord its depth and tenacity. Eugenol, the aromatic compound associated with clove and certain florals, adds a warm, slightly spiced sweetness. Linalool contributes a floral lift that prevents the composition from becoming too dense. Geraniol brings a rosy-green brightness to the middle register. Citronellol and Nerol both read as fresh, slightly citrus-floral, and keep the accord legible without interrupting its fundamentally grounding character. Benzyl Salicylate rounds the dry-down with a warm, balsamic softness.
