Is volcanic sand safer than other physical exfoliants?
Fine-grain volcanic sand has a more uniform particle shape than coarser physical scrubs, such as walnut shell or apricot kernel, which have irregular edges that can cause micro-tears. The result is a more even and less potentially damaging exfoliation, provided the formula is used at the recommended frequency.
How often should I use a volcanic sand exfoliant?
Two to three times a week is appropriate for most skin types. Sensitive or reactive skin should start with once a week and assess tolerance before increasing frequency. Regardless of the exfoliant type, over-use leads to barrier disruption rather than faster results.
Can volcanic sand be used on sensitive skin?
With care. The fine particle size of volcanic sand makes it more suitable than coarser exfoliants for skin that reacts easily. Start with very light pressure and limited frequency, and assess after each use. If any redness or tightness follows, reduce frequency or switch to a chemical exfoliant.
