How Skin Reading works
The two halves of the reading, the visible cues we extract, and what happens to the image once the analysis is complete.
Skin Reading is built from two halves that always run together. The first is a short questionnaire of six considered questions about your skin, your priorities and the ritual you can genuinely maintain. The second is a guided 60-second face scan delivered through our analysis provider. The result is one reading and one virtual ritual. There is no path through the reading that skips either half.
The questionnaire
Six questions, written in OVESSI voice. They ask about how your skin behaves through a normal week, the texture and tone you tend to notice in the mirror, the steps you are willing to keep, and the kind of finish you are after. The questions give the scan its context. A scan without that context is just a number. With it, the reading can tell the difference between a temporary shift and a pattern that is worth building a ritual around.
The 60-second face scan
The scan asks you to centre your face in the frame, in even light, without beauty filters or heavy product. It reads visible tone, texture, dryness, redness and pore appearance across seven facial zones. The system that performs the scan is a vision model trained on more than forty thousand clinically graded facial images. It is non-medical, and the language it returns is descriptive, not diagnostic.
What happens to the image
Your image is sent to our analysis provider for the duration of the scan, processed to extract the visible metrics across the seven zones, and then deleted from the provider. We do not retain the image inside our application. We do not use it to train any model. We do not share it with any third party beyond the analysis itself.
One frame from your scan is passed to our PDF renderer so it can sit inside your dossier as a visible record of what we read. The renderer builds the PDF, uploads it to our content delivery network at a non-guessable address, and discards its working copy. The frame inside the PDF is the only place an image of your face is retained, and it is retained only because it is yours.
Your virtual ritual
Once the analysis returns, the system matches your reading to one of the five core OVESSI rituals and builds the four-step layering order around the cues your face has shown.
