Pores Are Not The Problem
Share
A pore is the opening of a hair follicle. Its size is decided by genetics, sebum production, and gravity. You cannot shrink it. Everything sold to you for pore size is either softening the appearance of what's inside it, or temporarily tightening the surface around it. Both are real effects. Neither changes the architecture.
What you can do, properly and repeatedly, is keep pores empty and the skin around them smooth. Then they look smaller, which is what you actually wanted in the first place.
Pore care is a habit, not a product. Twice a week, four products, fifteen minutes total. The skin you're after is on the other side of the ritual.
The OVESSI point of view
What actually clogs a pore
Dead skin, sebum, and the trace residue of products that didn't quite come off. Excess sebum mixes with the dead cells inside the follicle, oxidises at the surface, and turns dark. That's a blackhead. The pore wasn't open. It was full.
The work, then, is twofold. Clear what's there. Slow what comes back.
The twice-weekly ritual
One : the wash that lifts oil without stripping
The Cleanse : Clarifying Aloe Gel Wash on damp skin, ninety seconds. Long enough to do the work, short enough to leave the barrier intact. Rinse with cool water.
Two : the toner that goes inside the pore
The Purify : Salicylic Purifying Toner. Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, which is the entire reason it works on pores. It dissolves the debris from inside, not just the surface around. Pat on with a cotton pad, leave it. No rinse.
Three : the mask that pulls
The Draw : Purifying Pore Clay Mask for ten minutes, not fifteen. Kaolin and bentonite bind to sebum on contact and pull it out as they dry. Stop before the clay cracks. Rinse with warm water and a soft cloth.
Four : the exfoliator, polish-grade
The Polish : Resurfacing Kojic Exfoliator in small circles for thirty seconds, focused on the nose, chin, and forehead. Kojic acid adds a quiet brightening edge to the resurfacing.
The order, simply
Cleanse, toner, mask once or twice a week, polish once a week. Do not do all four in the same session. The two pairings that work : cleanse-mask-finish, or cleanse-polish-toner-finish. Spacing matters more than effort.
What slows what comes back
A daily niacinamide (The Even) tunes sebum production. A nightly hydrator that doesn't sit heavy. SPF that doesn't clog. And the discipline to leave the pores alone between sessions.
The skin you're after is not poreless. It's even. The ritual gets you there.
